Why Wandering Founder exists

This substack exists to help normal founders figure out how to build ambitious, world-changing companies. It’s for founders that aren’t quite sure how to start. I believe everyone has the capability to build inspiring, meaningful companies, but the hard part is figuring out the “how”

Specifically, I want to explore 2 questions

  • How do we find good ideas that resonate and become our calling?

  • How do we find our unique genius and the type of company that genius calls for?

About me

Hi, I’m Andy. I recently transitioned from my 1st YC company (Downtobid). Prior to this, I worked on self-driving cars as an ML engineer for Uber.

My first company was a good, profitable company, but not a venture outcome. As I look to build my 2nd company, I’m wandering through a sea of ideas and introspecting to figure out what types of companies I’m uniquely positioned to solve for. I’m starting from 0 again, so this substack is about unpacking the journey of going from 0 to something meaningful again. I have a feeling many founders are wandering like me so this substack exists to serve them by documenting lessons I learn along the way.
